Composite Replacement Fillings

Advances in dental materials and techniques have given us the ability to create a natural-looking smile when you need to have old fillings replaced. We use composite resin fillings to reinforce tooth structure, replace worn, loose or leaking silver (mercury) fillings and restore your natural-looking smile.

Composite resin is a tooth-colored material made from plastic or glass and is used to fill a cavity or replace silver fillings. Unlike silver, composite resin bonds to the tooth’s surface and restores most of the original strength of the tooth. When correct techniques are employed, teeth are less sensitive to hot and cold than when other types of material are used. While there is debate about whether mercury in fillings causes problems, some choose composite fillings to avoid the chance of exposure to something toxic. Composite fillings are placed in one visit and can last 5-10 years.
