Caring for your baby’s whole mouth from the start is an important part of his or her future oral health.
We want to see your infant as soon as the first tooth comes in. After the first visit, we will want to see your baby every six months for the rest of his or her life.
During each visit, we will examine the tongue, roof of the mouth and even the inside of your baby’s cheeks for signs of problems. If we find any buildup of food, deposits, or stains, we will gently remove them. If we think your baby is not getting enough fluoride, we may apply a fluoride treatment.
We will also teach you how to brush your baby’s teeth and take care of the gums. To spot habits that could cause dental problems, we will ask questions about your baby’s eating habits. We will want to know about your baby’s diet and if you feed your baby right before bed or if you allow drinks from a sippy cup, for example. We may ask if your baby drinks juice or sugary drinks, sucks its thumb and if a pacifier is used.
Your child deserves regular dental care, beginning when the first tooth erupts. We are honored to have such an important role in their early life.
